How scary for you and Chloe and your kids. That she pooped herself tells me how scared she was.
We get chased all the time in our neighborhood - with folks who let their big dogs run loose. It makes me SO mad. Like you, mine don't run loose - they stay in their fenced yard.
It would only take one bite to really injure these little ones. Could you fence your yard?
My neighbors got SO MAD at me for fencing my yard (and ruining their view, give me a break). BUT they have a large german shephard and another big dog - supposedly contained with an underground fence, but they never have their collars on.
Like I am going to risk Lucy's life on a daily basis so they can have their 'view'.
I'm glad everything turned out ok for you. That would be terrible for your kids to see a big dog injuring Chloe.
