i have a harness... it's actually really good. i could never just hook the leash to the collar. one of my friends who wasn't used to dogs was walking charlie once and she wanted him to come, so she really yanked on the leash and hence the collar and his neck! after that, i got a harness and i don't let anyone walk my yorkie!

the retractable leashes are a bit dangerous, i agree... i am not going to use them anymore, as i had a scary experience last week. my pug was on a retractable and he ended up somehow wrapping it around my yorkie's neck! that was horrifying... i had to untangle it quickly and it was so thin that it was really hard to do... but luckily charlie was just fine!
