We had a lot of these problems with our daughter aged 19, who's due to go off to Uni in October this year. She decided she wanted to move out of the parental home into a shared house - student digs - with a couple of her female friends, and moved out last week.

She seems to be enjoying the independence and not having her Dad and I nagging her to get out of bed/tidy her room etc. The disadvantage is that she'll have to learn to manage her money carefully and will rapidly learn there's no 'washing-up fairy' to do the dirty dishes or a 'laundry fairy' to do her dirty laundry regularly. It'll be tough for her but if she manages it living away from home at Uni won't be such a shock to her system.
