Ok everyone..I hope I don't offend any of you but I have to say that those retractable leashes are my pet peeve. I guess using them somewhere you are 100% sure there are no dangers, no distractions would be fine. You just can't control them properly. As far as our tiny babies are concerend walking on a regular type leash with a harness is so much safer. You think about traffic, bikes, other dogs, people, snakes, etc. it's just safer having them near your heel so that you can look out for their safety. I have had mine out walking and come across big dogs so a leash and harness keeps them safely at your side so that you can scoop them up quickly if need be. I personaly have never seen anyone walking a dog on a retractable that had total control of their dog. The worst is when you see someone with a powerful Pitt Bull or Rott on a retractable..the owner running behind saying "come FiFi..don't eat that poor little yorkie!".
