yes, lots of us have MVD dogs here, most of them can be controlled with just diet, some require supplements, however, many live a normal lifespan with this disease, some dogs never show symptoms. Both of my yorkies have MVD- they are both managed with diet alone, nothing prescription- just low protein. 1 is totally asymptomatic, the other has some small symptoms but with some small lifestyle changes she does totally fine. Have you seen a good vet who can explain MVD to you and help you create a diet plan? This is NOT a life sentence- you should read up on the disease and try to learn about what is good/bad for your dog- but again this is not a life sentence!
