Canned food is fine to give your dog- kibble cannot clean teeth and most canned foods are balanced diets on their own. So it is fine to feed canned and kibble mixed or exclusively canned. In general, if a brand is decent then both their kibble and canned (if they make it) are good foods. So research good brands and go from there. Some decent brands you can find at Petco are Natural Balance, Merrick, Halo, Blue Buffalo. Some good brands you can usually only find in boutique stores include Nature's Variety, FROMM, Go!/Now!. If you have a tractor supply near you they might carry Taste of the Wild. The most important thing to watch is the fat/protein content because they are soemtimes higher in canned foods and it is harder to read because they give the percentage on the back before it is converted to dry matter.
