Default Underweight yorkie

Hi guys,

A week ago, I got a mistreated yorkie. He's around 8 years old.
I have a vet appointment next week, so I'll ask the vet what to do but I'm pretty scared for my baby so I thought I'd ask, in case there's someone here with experience.

When I got him he was scared and shaking constantly, but now he's happy and running around and enjoying all the attention. So mentally, I think he'll be okay.

My problem is that he's extremely underweight. He's gained a bit of weight since I got him, but I have to hand feed him. He won't eat by himself. How much do they eat a day? I have a St. Bernard, so maybe I'm just used to having a dog that eats like a horse?

Also, his coat looks very unhealthy. Are there any supplements I can add to his diet?

Help much appreciated. I will ask the vet for help, but any input is welcome
