AKC will do nothing. They promote themselves as a "registery" only. They are not the breeding police. They have no interest in the health, or quality of the dog. They only care that it is purebred dog being whelped of parents of the same breed. FYI inline or inbreeding does not cause genetic diseases even livershunt. A genetic disease cannot present itself unless the genes are already present in the sire or dam. Inbreeding will bring those diseases to the surface so responsible breeders can remove individuals from their breeding program. Test inbreeding does condense the gene pool therefore it greatly increases the chance of finding hidden genetic problems/diseases in individual breeding animals. But inbreeding should never be done by the inexperienced or faint of heart. The potential problems are greatly increased. But for some diseases like livershunt there is no other way to know if it exists in a breeding program or not. And yes I do have AKC dogs. IMO one should not put all their faith in AKC's ability or desire to solve all the problems of the dog world. It just ain't gonna happen.
