I'm glad they are okay.
We have a hawk that has sized Gus up a time or two. I was very lucky, I got warnings before anything terrible happened. First time it landed in a tree about twenty five feet up - all eyes on Gus. I was very fortunate that time, I was close and Gus came to me immediately when I called. I don't like to think what could have happened.
Even after that I thought if he was always on a leash and only a few feet away he would be safe. That was until the day my niece was outside and the hawk landed on the ground very close to her. I have no idea why, Gus wasn't even outside, but it did. Now I practically stand over him when we go out.
Everyone with birds of prey around be very, very careful. You probably won't see it coming and I know you won't hear it - it's truly amazing how silent they are. |
