Sometimes capsules can be opened. Did you ask the company? For Ellie's, I coat it in something slippery (baby sweet potato) and put it in her throat. They are too big for her, so she was choking without the coating.
SQ fluids are generally not a big deal. It's probably your pup's best chance.... Most pups tolerate it and it is usually not difficult. The vet will do a demo for you. My girl stands or lays down quietly (or tries to get away and play - lol) on the rare occasion that I have to give her sq's.
