Yes...and plus, if the pup goes in there after the cat leaves the sensor will pick up the pup and won't go off...but I love my littermate...all I have to do is, put the lid on the container and throw it out and replace the container and add some more litter about every other day or so...I pull it apart every other week to clean the machine and rakes.

And you know I thought my cats would freak too when we first got it. but my female Baby will go in there after Milo gets out and if the sensor goes off she will still jump in there and do her business...thank god the sensor picks her up and stops and goes back into place...it doesn't bother them at all..LOL
