In my opinion, for what it is worth, in a situation like this I would call without hesitation.
Our friends are just so important to us and there is no harm thinking of them or even worrying over them.
As it is there is not enough love in this world it is sadly lacking and consideration for others is even more rare.
If I had the slightest concern for a loved one or friend I would call right away.
Only my opinion I don't intend to interfere sorry.
