Tails and claws I took Bitsy and the pups to the vet this morning for tail docking and dew claw removal. Bitsy got to stay with her pups and he did them one at a time where she could see him(the doctor). Thanks for all your post and replys and advice. I had mixed feelings about it and was so worried this morning if I was doing the right thing or not. We are going to keep a girl and I would have left her tail long cause I like it on girls but since they all look the same now, I don't know which one I'll keep, so I just went ahead and had them all done. They used glue instead of stiches and I've seen very little blood since I brought them home. Vet said Bitsy would take care of everything and she's been licking them on their tales a lot. I guess that is ok. They look fine and don't seem stressed or in pain. Just thought I'd give an update!
Yorkiegirl, I'm not sure about having the dew claws removed after the are a couple months old. Maybe one of the other posters would know. I had a hard time finding a vet that would do both the claws and the tales for me! My regular vet would have done the tails but not the claws and I wanted it all done at the same time, so I had to call around to three other vets before I found one that would even consider doing both. |
