OMG.... I was just sitting here at the same time listening to one of mine and the strange noise coming form her. Something I have never heard b4. Kind of like a hick-up but with a squeaky toy lodged in her throat!

But to answer your ?... two of my Yorkies do this sort of sound when they are startled or excited also. Not sure why... but my oldest boy Quincy has done it for over 8 yrs now. I doubt that it is anything to worry about.
