Dog Wanting to add another Yorkie

I have been thinking about adding another Yorkie to our family. I have a few questions and concerns. Looking forward to some input on these points.
My Yorkie is 9 years old and has always been the only furbaby in the house. She is so attached to me.
Do older furbabies handle the new arrival?
How can I help the transition?
Will they sleep in the same place or will they need seperate areas?
Food? Mrs. Beasley is on a special diet. She also eats all her food at one time.

I am thnking about getting a rescue. I want a female about 5 years old. My thinking is a puppy will be too rowdy for a nine year old.

I am a teacher and about to be off for the summer. This may help with the transition.

Thank you all for your input.
