Also please take no offense here, but we have heard that phrase uttered too many times. While it is true, the best breeders find a mentor who takes them under their wing. That is the way to become a "professional". Most times you learn by helping out your mentor, and not using your own dogs, then later getting your own dam and sire.
There is just so much to consider before going into breeding. If you are wanting to get into breeding to supplement your income, then that is not the kind of breeder I would support. The kind I would support are the ones who breed for the betterment of the breed.
