Congratulations on Mr. Max! 9 weeks is very young to have a puppy brought home, however, I agree with all of the other posts. Leave the food available for him 24/7. Be sure to be checking his gums and make sure that they are moist and pink as well.
Nutrical is also very very handy to have on hand just in case he gets hypoglycemic!
