I wouldn't use a slicker brush on the coat except for getting the knots out, and don't let it touch the skin.
I'd also strongly suggest using a very mild hand made doggie soap. When you read all the ingredients in a dog shampoo it makes you wonder what your actually putting into their blood supply. Also the doggie soap has natural ingredients that repel fleas.

Yorkiedaze, never heard of a handmade doggie soap. What is the name of it and where do you get it? Thanks so much.
