He is extremely lucky to have landed in such a caring and loving home. I'm sure a lot of these sick puppies don't make it because people hesitate to get them to the vet's. Or don't have the money to take them. It really breaks my heart to think how some of these puppies are treated.
So glad to hear he has improved so much, maybe he has turned the corner and with a good diet, his hair will start showing improvement too.
