We then don't spend money on her as a consequence. She gets mad about that too because she thinks we forgot about her.

So this year, being recently unemployed, I brought up the topic. I just so happen to be looking at a food magazine. She pointed to the chocolate covered strawberries and said, "I've never had those before." I will be making her those. Not much money spent, and she will appreciate the effort. I hope this is a winner.
