Should you abort the pups? That decision should be left up to your vet first and you 2nd. And should be dependent on your little girl's health. Being that she was emaciated and not in the best condition when you obtained her, how healthy are these pups. Keeping the older a girl is the more problems she may encounter with the whelp.

Also, keep in mind are you willing to lose your little girl if you continue with this pregnancy. How sad that after all you've done to give her a wonderful rest of her life, that you lose her now.

Next are you in a position financially to handle everything should anything go wrong and even if nothing goes wrong it is an expense. Obtaining supplies and making sure the pups and mom have everything prior, during and after the whelp. Can you find reputable homes for these pups. And if these pups are not healthy (since you don't know their background) are you willing to take that responsibility.

Oh! If you don't work, that's great, but if you do are you able to take 12 weeks off. From the first due date (whenever that is) and until the pups are 12 weeks of age you life is not yours, you are tied to your home....

I'm not attempting to scare you but, give you the reality of what is ahead of you.

No matter what you decide, I wish you the best and hope you make the right decision for your girl.

Oh! There is also another thing that might be considered, closed pyometritis. It happens to older girls and usually around 3 weeks after their heat cycle. If this is the case, an emergency spay is in order.

All of above scare the heck outta me! And I appreciate your post! I want to do what is best for Foxy, and if that means aborting pups then so be it. I will be taking her in Monday, and hopefully get the answers I need. I agree, she has come too far, to be backsliding now. Thanks.
