First, no one is going to judge you for being taken in by a breeder. You went to pick her up and say the condition she was in and made a decision to bring her home. The breeder well........sucks.
You cannot be blamed for wanting to add a new pup to your home. Now that I know the full story (or is there more
) my guess is that she is pregnant. Your story really isn't that different from others so be prepared to deal.
If I were you, I would get that breeder on the phone and insist she tell you if there is a possibility that she could be pregnant and who the dad could be. It might help to decide what to do with her spay VS puppies.
I really feel horrible that you have been put into this situation but actually pretty typical of some slimy breeders.
