Lucy's not a 'runner' but there are so many unleashed big dogs in our parks - that I don't dare let her off leash. She can run free in our fenced back yard.
My Westie - forget it. I wouldn't see him for DAYS if I let him off leash in a park. Might never see him again. So he's not off leash either - cept in the fenced yard.
So you are not overprotective! You're smart.
