I had this problem with my littlest. Only she would grab it and run into our dining room and hide it in there. I put her on a small leash and played "fetch" with her in that very small area. So she knew she would always get it right back from me. I slowly went to longer and longer leashes so she would have to take a step or two towards me for the play to continue. This worked for me/us.
Good luck because we use fetch to help ensure to keep activity levels up (especially on rainy days).
