I have a picky eater too and what I've learned is that they like variety. I just started rotating with Nature's Variety brand. One meal they'll get the raw chicken patties, next the Salmon kibble, then next day I'll give the Salmon kibble with some rabbit canned mixed in and beef raw patties for dinner. This has been the ONLY thing to keep Alice eating every meal with gusto (she has her favorites, but she'll eat them all as long as it's not the same thing at every meal). I went with this brand for this exact reason. All their food is formulated to be rotated through the different flavors (I think there's 5 raw and canned and 6 kibble) and forms (raw, kibble, canned). Alice gobbles down her food now and before I had to beg her to eat. Idk, it's not as difficult as it sounds, I just buy one (maybe 2) bag of the kibble and get a different one with each new bag and I keep 1 of each flavor of canned and 2 different flavors of raw in the house. I've also started tossing in some raw chicken or beef with some meals when I see it on sale - Alice LOVES that. If I'm stuck where I only have one kind and they've had it two meals in a row, I'll mix some plain yogurt or canned pumpkin in until I can get to the pet store and that does the trick as long as it's not all the time.
Idk, it makes sense to me, I surely don't want to eat the same exact thing for every meal lol. It's funny, my Beagle mix and the 2 cats will eat anything, never picky, but my 2 pure breeds (Alice and an Akita) look at me like I'm crazy if I give them the same exact meal 2 days in a row LOL |
