It is not at all rude to expect to go out to dinner and have a quiet meal without screaming children at the table next to you.

Thank you! I have chosen not to have children (as of now at least), and find it unfair that other peoples' children can ruin my nice dinner with my DH.
I think as a parent, you have an
obligation to leave the restaurant if your child is causing a scene. It should not ruin other patrons meals because your child is having a bad day. However, there is a difference between McDonald's and a nice restaurant...
