Ellie only goes places where dogs are allowed. If a restaurant allowed her, then I'd have no problem taking her -- except that she doesn't behave very well.

I don't think a small dog is going to cause harm to anyone if it is in its carrier. It's not really fair to large breed owners though. If they let small dogs in and not large dogs, that's a lawsuit. I just don't see the point in sneaking them in. If you need the dog for a health issue, then certify it.

I have made an exception before. Ellie does go into reststops with us when traveling because there is literally not much of a choice (unless we took turns going in which is silly). They are dirty-nasty places anyway, so who cares...

I like to take her to places that dogs are allowed sometimes. I'd love for her to be with me 24/7. Honestly though. I don't think it is healthy for the dog. If they are with their owners at ALL times, then that seems like it would cause an extreme case of separation anxiety. Nothing wrong with them being home by themselves...
