My Daisy has a different take on food. She refuses to eat until we are all together (eventually she figures out that I'm not coming home if on business travel, and gets over it, but this is the usual pattern). Since I almost always get home an hour or two after the GF, she will run like mad to say hello to me by jumping up on her hind legs like a Jack Russel, and nipping at my fingers. This is her way of shaking hands, I am told

Then after the meet and greet, its straight to the food bowl to eat all the kibble there is to eat.
Mr Gatsby has trained himself to also do the jump up on hind legs thing, but ONLY to tell me that he has used the pee pad and that I need to come see it to reward him... Yes, he has sometimes tried this with no fresh pee, thinking I'd treat him anyway, but he must know we humans are smarter than that
