Where to sleep 10 wk Stanley.. Crate in kitchen or bedroom? Hello Every one, and as a new member thank you for messages of welcome!
I have had Stanley for almost 4 weeks, he sleeps in his cage/crate quite happily and is happy to go there for quiet time... but.. and there is always a but! ..
Every night without fail he will mess no 1's and 2's, either in his crate or in the small run I have made to the side of it.. invariably this means him trotting through it and mess all across his bedding.
After reading various solutions it could be anxiety at night, although I have never heard Stanley cry or whimper at night .. although he is in the kitchen and I sleep like a log!!
In order to try and break this messing of the crate, should I sleep him in the bedroom so that should he be up in the night I can hear him ... or will I be undoing all the good work so far of him happy in the crate (well he seems to be)
House training is not in Stanleys book of "must do's" and although he has rewards when doing his business outside he still deems it fit and fine to do it inside!
All your views welcomed on the where to sleep part!! oh and he has 3 meals of dry food a day at 7am, 12, and 4.30pm and no water after 9pm. I go to bed approx midnight. He has been wormed by the vet and seems in general good health. He has a fairly good routine in the day of up, feed, play, crate and again in the afternoon he is in crate for his nap (usually about 2 hrs) and then in evening he sleeps on the sofa, then his crate.
I am wondering if I slept him in the bedroom I would stand a chance of hearing him .. his crate is too big to keep lugging around as I got the medium size one for when he is bigger so would sort out maybe one of the soft sleeping crates for him. This is the second yorkie I have owned and yes, the first one a girl house trained beautifully :-) |
