He sleeps in our room now in his crate so we can hear him if he gets up and we immediately take him out to potty. I'm just worried about the potting in the crate very much. Any suggestions and is it normal for Yorkies at 6 months to not be potty trained. We have always had indoor dogs and never had as much difficulty potty training them. I did read about this before we picked this breed so I knew it would take time but he is 6 months and I'm a tad worried. Any suggestions or words of wisdom from Yorkie moms and dads.. PS, I love my Yorkie and I will stick with this no matter what I'm just a little tired and looking for experience now. |
Terriers are stubborn and difficult. Your little baby will get it so don't worry. My previous Yorkie would do it in the crate which he shared with his Maltese sister. Then he learned how to lift his leg and hit the wall. No matter how many times I would take him out, he would do it in the crate. One afternoon, my husband and I were going out and I was getting ready to put him in the crate. My husband said to leave him out. I said "are you KIDDING???". Well, we left both dogs out and 3 hours later, when we returned, we checked all over the house and there was nothing! He tootsie rolls or puddles waiting for me. In fact, he was just sleeping on his pillow. At the time he must of been 2 years old and he never went back in the crate after that :-)
