Steve, I think it has been established that not all parti breeders are breeding for the money, anymore than all traditional color, specifically exhibitor/breeders are breeding for money. Also, it has been established that parti color yorkies are not mixes, otherwise I don't believe AKC would ever have allowed them to be registered. Are there mixes out there, yes I'm sure there are. Have traditional color yorkie breeders had DNA and registration problems with their kennels......yes, most certainly!
Why is it so hard for those against parti color yorkies to understand that there are those that have fallen in love with parti color yorkies and have an interest in continuing the color variation? They are not breeding for the love of money, but for the love of the variation. There are many traditional color exhibitor/breeders, that although they would never openly admit it, are definitely breeding for profit (some with well known kennel names).
The mantra is ........"they are breeding for their next show dog....come on now.....just how many litters a year does an exhibitor need to produce to have that next show puppy? Not near as many as some of them produce. It's not unusual for show breeders to charge a minimum of $2,000 for one of their pups, and more if it is a show prospect being sold. From my experience, that amount isn't much different than what is charged for a parti or Biewer pup.
Btw.....perhaps some partis or Biewer pups do sell for $5-8K, as do some traditional color pups. I've not seen either advertised on YT and would think one foolish to pay that amount....but hey, it's not my business what someone pays for their pup. If the seller and buyer come to an agreed price, that is between them.
