Default escape artists

I was caring for a friends Yorkie one time and had her in my newly added on kennel area. I looked out the kitchen window and saw her running in the fenced backyard..okay, no problem, my husband must have not shut the outside door tight. I put her back in the doggy room, made sure the door is locked and go back to what I was doing. 5 minutes later she is running in the yard again...now I am freaked out..I go over the room inch by inch. The window is shut, door locked, solid walls, concrete slab and tiled floor..no way out.
So I put her back and go outside to watch...this Yorkie took her paw and scratched back the accordion panels that held the window AC unit in place..once she was out it popped back like nothing happended. If I didn't have a fenced yard and she ran away, totally disappeared, I would still be wondering what happened..the space was so narrow, she had to force herself through it.
