Last year as I was trying to over come my fear of snakes here comes this monster around my garage. I went and got camera to take a picture so I could find out if this was a garder snake. I was not that close I zoom till I could get a good picture. I was tired of my son making fun of me when I would try to explain what color and kind it was. |
What a pretty little garden FRIEND you have there. Unfortunately it is very difficult to identify some patterned snakes by just a photo. Sometimes you have to count scales, look at the vent (poopie opening) to determine if it is single or split, etc. Many non-venemous snakes copy patterns and behaviors of venemous ones.
I wish I could convince all of you scairdy snakes that these little slitheries are your FRIENDS. They eat frogs (that poison our furbutts), rodents (that spread disease) and other pesky little buggies. I must admit that it does startle me if I just happen upon a creepie crawlie unexpected, but I generally don't panic. I have been known to stop my car in the middle of the road to sush one to safety.
On the other hand, I believe that snakes should remain outdoors and once they violate MY SPACE, things could get ugly.
