A vet assistant cut my labs nail too short once, didn't tell us, and then once we got home whatever they have stopped it up with came out. He limped, left large blood trails, and when we took him back they bandaged his foot so he couldn't lick it. Long story short his leg swelled because they wrapped his leg too tight, and then wanted to charge us for the meds to deal with the infection/swelling. I hit the roof and told them I wouldn't pay for their negligence. (Note: I was stationed w/ DH at Fort Polk in Louisiana at the time, small town 2 vets.) I'd call and tell them to reimburse the money first off, second I would find a new vet because anyone who is that brainless shouldn't be graced with your pup as a client. I'm sorry that happened to you.
As for groomers, I am paying $65.00 for a mobile groomer for Teddie. It's a lot, but to me it is worth it. The people are right outside my door, I can hear a commotion if there is one (Teddie screams at blow dryers), and I like that he isn't in a kennel "waiting his turn" for hours and also not with others dogs in a "play" environment while waiting his turn.
