I have a soft coated yorkie. I too wanted to see him in a nice long coat. That was not a good choice for us. Constant matting on his little body, and he was miserable being groomed. I gave up, cut his body short and his face is still rather long. I can put it up in a pony tail, but honestly I don't. I clip his hair out of his eyes and let him run and mess it up. he looks good and is happy again.
