Hi! Welcome!!!!

I would look for a bigger Yorkie. My Jackson is 16lbs of fun and is very durable. He loves to go swimming, he loves to hike, he loves to run, go to the dog parks, play with my young siblings (age 3 and 7), walk around the farm (we live around a lot of farms) etc. Little ones can enjoy all this stuff too but I do think a larger Yorkie is a better option for young kids. While my 3 year old half sister is very good with him, there have been times where she accidentally got too rough, etc, and it would worry me aLOT more if he was any smaller. I also like that kids aren't inclined to pick him up because he's not tiny. With tiny ones, I've seen lots of kids feel they can just pick them up whenever they want and that can be a dangerous combination.
By the way, I am in Annapolis, MD area too

Love seeing others in the area. I go to a nice park in Annapolis a lot and there's lots to do with dogs in this area it seems. I've been thinking my next dog is going to be a Silky Terrier... VERY similar to Yorkies (basically genetically the same) but they tend to be more 'terrier' and sturdier and bigger. I've been told people think Jackson is a Silky (I did not get him from a good breeder so unfortunately can't recommend them to you). I've spoken to this breeder before in VA-
Home I think this one is in PA
Snowglen Home Here's another in NY-
Dobralco Silky Terriers of New York Small Non-Shedding Puppies There's also a few great breeders here on YT but don't be fooled if you get any PM's from some that are hounding you to get their dog, we sometimes have those types on here, so just because they are a YT member doesn't necessarily mean they are a 'good' breeder. Breny (YT user) is awesome from what I've heard!!! I'd love to have one of her pups one day.
Anyways good luck
