I really wanted Jackson to be comfortable around the water so he wouldn't freak out if he ever did accidentally fall in (and believe me, it's happened before when we were out there... gets caught up in the moment and slips in). My dads dog Lilly does this... if she falls in, she WIGS out and doesn't know what to do and can't find the stairs... so I was always sure to show Jackson right from the start how to get out, etc.
