I started slow w/ Jackson. He was about 7 months old when the pool opened and I would give him lots of treats when he was around it, then I guided him onto the steps with the treats, so it wasn't be just 'throwing' him in essentially. Then I would carry him in with me, etc. He only jumped in by himself about 3x that summer, but by the NEXT summer (last summer)... boy he was a total water boy. He just loved it. The lifejacket boosted his confidence with jumping too... I purchased it at Petsmart for about $20, I think.
