Funny you should ask that question....(and had such an experience on your 50th!!).......I just returned 2 days ago and have been avoiding yorkietalk....because I am up to my eyeballs in stuff to get done and I knew if I EVER sat down to this I would get NOTHING DONE!!!
I can now reveal the BIG SECRET.......I DID IT!!!!! I ran away from home....I left and NO ONE knew where I was going until I was GONE!!!!!
I mailed everyone an Easter card on Friday with a note about where I was going and my 'itinerary'...they received the cards Saturday after I was LONG GONE!!!!! (yes, including my hubby).....NO ONE KNEW !!!!!
Sat 3-26-05....6 AM....flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico......boarded a Celebrity
Cruise ship for a 7 day cruise of the sunny, southern caribbean...ALONE!!!!!!
Sun 3-27-05...Casa De Campo, Dominican Republic...
never left the ship...just sat on my balcony and daydreamed and relaxed!
Mon 3-28-05....Day @ sea......
Tue 3-29-05..(my 50th)..Bridgetown, Barbados...went horseback riding.....
(yes....my butt WAS SORE!!!)
Wed 3-30-05...St George's, Grenada......the spice Island.....destroyed by
hurricaine Ivan...but still beautiful.....bought tons of fresh spices!!!!!
Thu...3-31-05.....Charlotte Amalie, Antigua.....shoping....beautiful beaches....
Friday 4-1-05...St Thomas, U S Virgin Islands...shoping...sky lift to "Paradise
Point"......relaxed......
Sat 4-2-05...San Juan....flew home to Charlotte, N.C. ...Hubby and grandson
met me at the airport....
....got home 8 pm Sat....a hundred people at my house....I was exhausted.... cleaned up the mess until after midnight.....
Sunday...so tired I was almost sick.........cleaned some more...(no one cleaned anything while I was gone!!)
Monday...back to work...spent all day chasing my tail..got nothing done....
Tuesday...(today)..car battery was dead this morning...hubby out of town.....had to get a "jump" and spent $75 on new battery.....now 2 days behind on paperwork and 4 loads of clothes to get done!!!!!
I left town and no one knew where I was going...they only knew I was going somewhere.
I was the only person on earth to be THAT EXCITED about turning 50!!! I have planned this for over 1 1/2 years!!!! The anticipation almost killed me.....I never told a soul!!!!! except one MD friend and a nurse friend who both helped in the deception!!!!! I had a blast......
And I am writing a book about the WHOLE thing...from the moment I decided to do "something"....until this day and a few days after!!!!!
ANd all your thoughts about turning 50 will be part of the book!!!!!
Did that possibly inspire someone out there to go have "an adventure"????? |
