Orinshy, Several years ago, I contacted the author of the article you quoted about coloration in Yorkies. A blue-born puppy was the get from a very well-known line in our area. I took the baby from the breeder when she was 6 weeks old-she had been hidden away from everyone and was in a crate in the back room. So, I took her! Then, I started researching--I contacted the author and you notice she said "I received a call""that might be me! I had many discussions with her, she sent copies of her article and I also talked at length with Terri Shumski. I placed that girl in a pet home...as a rescue. She broke her foot just walking on the deck.. Seems a calcium deficiency. I had to put sunscreen on her hairless ears and back. Any where her coat would be blue as adult had a short, dry feel like very fine steel-wool. Her tan fringe grows and must be groomed. She is in her second home now and is mostly healthy. I did not give her vaccines nor have her spayed til she was olde..vets agreed we should wait as I never took her out. Her mom now has only 1 child-that Yorkie.. If I had any idea how to post a pic I could show you her pic as adult. I had a computer crash and lost all of her baby pics. I have always loved the underdog for any reason and I love these off-color babies. Would I spend good money to buy a blue-born? Not on your life!!! She scared me to death the times she came to stay here between homes..
YorkieRose helped so much in that search for info and I try to keep up-to-date as much as possible.. |
