Our first dog Brody came from a pet store... pretty much the same situation. I fell for the whole "We get our dogs from "family friends" in Missouri" type thing.
That was 12 years ago though and I've learned SO much since then. I know how they pull at your heart strings. I'd never do it again because then I'd be contributing to the problem and their business. He had a few issues. He came with kennel cough. When he was 7 he had bladder stones removed and finally when he was 10 we had to put him to sleep because he had advanced kidney failure. It was the saddest day of my life....I still miss him to this day...
Anyways, you live and learn. I'm so glad for you that he's healthy! Thank god he ended up in good hands with a family to love him
It could've been so much worse so good for you. Sounds like you've learned to buy from a reputable breeder. There's two YTCA members that I've talked to at the dog show that seem good. One in Macomb Twp and one in Roseville. Check YTCA.org of course there's always petfinder.com if you're interested in a rescue.
