Royal Canin is better than either one you mentioned in your post.
Please read the labels on the food you buy or plan to buy in the future. There was a dog food grading thread some time back. You can do a search for it and see how the various brands stack up against each other and the grading system. I try to feed the best I can afford. Minimize the fillers. The younger 3 of my gang are fed Natural Balance Potato and Duck limited ingredients and Merrick canned. The 16 yr old is on Science Diet Kidney (KD).
