Food allergies don't cause neurological conditions. It is also impossible to accurate diagnose them without an elimination diet that takes many weeks. It sounds as though this holistic vet is going against the peer reviewed and accepted veterinary literature and has instead decided to do their own thing. Your pup needs to be under the care of a neurologist, not somebody who wants to guess at what is wrong and try questionable treatments that don't have any solid backing.
Please don't let him jump up or down. He should be crated if you can't be with him. It's just too dangerous. |
I'm going to have to agree. Although I'm so happy that Polo came home and you got to see him, because I know you've been hurting, I don't think simply allergies are the real problem. Allergies, in dog and even human world, don't cause neurological problems (i.e. lack of balance, confusion, etc.).
I think you need to get him this MRI. I know it may seem like he's doing better and I know that seems like a big improvement, but it may simply be temporary. Especially if he just came home and just has a jump in his step so-to-speak because he's not at a vet anymore.
Please don't take anything that we're saying as mean or rude, however, I know how it is with dogs that it may seem that they're doing "better" but you know deep down that you haven't tackled the real obstacle yet. And feeling and knowing that does not make you a bad mommy, it's simply very hard to accept the fact sometimes that your pet may have a serious illness.
I have gone through this with one of my Carin's. So please, save yourself some heartache and try to get an MRI as soon as possible.
Thoughts and prayers are with you.
