I have two favorites, both at work. One time I snuck memos and a box of trash bags into our afternoon mail. The memo was from "Telecommunications " saying that the phone company would be cleaning out the phone lines by forcing compressed air through the system, and recommending that phones be tightly sealed in trash bags to contain dust. About half the staff fell for that one.
The other time I posted memos from our maintenance department announcing that they would be closed for a week for emergency repairs. I even included a map showing the nearest available bathrooms which were on the opposite end of campus. My boss, who spent a lot of time in the bathroom, went ballistic and called their service center. He screamed at them for at least five minutes before they convinced him that they hadn't posted the notices. Then he came roaring out of his office announcing that if he found out who did it, they were fired! Twenty years later, I don't think anyone ever figured out I did both pranks. |
