I like male dogs better in my experience in the past few years as a dogsitter. The few females I've watched were, well, bitches, lol. I guess they have their name for a reason. My dads dog, Lily, for example loves to cuddle, give kisses and be loved on. But if you go in to pet her when she doesn't want you to, she will growl, walk away or give attitude. She is also is the most stubborn and doesn't wanna listen to a word you say. I grew up with female dogs and we always loved them to death of course but they were definitely very independent. They liked to be with us on their own terms.
Jackson is obviously a boy and while I wouldn't say he's cuddly (he'd prefer not to be held for long periods of time) but he's super attached to me. He follows me from room to room, at night he does snuggle in close with me, and in the morning he loves his attention when we first wake up. He's super willing to please me.
I don't really know how to explain it, but I connect better with boy dogs. I don't think I'll ever own a girl again. It's not that I don't like girl dogs... and there's always an exception to every "rule" obviously. If the right dog came up and it was a girl, I wouldn't turn her down of course. Boys have just become my preference. |
