I don't have an answer to your question. BUT, why may I ask are you taking him out in public and a field for him to run around in?
He shouldn't be out until all of his puppy shot's have been given.
Since he is also on medication for a bacterial infection this makes it even more so that he shouldn't be out. Also I noticed you said you put him on the floor at the Pet Store, there are all kinds of germs on that floor and no telling what there may be, not every one vacinates their dog's and no telling what other dog's walking around on that floor are bringing in.

I'm glad he is doing so much better, and he is cute little guy.
