why they do that I mean it's not hurting anyone, so why does it bother some people

I've had from a lady thanking me for being thoughtful and not dragging my little girl for blocks even when she's tired to a lady asking me in a bad manner why do we insist on treating our babies like 'real children.' I got so disgusted that time, I answered rudely, " DUH! BECAUSE WE CAN." Ugh! Envy, is so boring.
