I have never had this problem and sometimes even have two "whole" males as babies to our family.

I watch them closely starting at about 4 months when they were most likely to start this behavior and scolded them firmly and take them to the doggie door. Also I ignored them for at least a half hour when they came right back in that doggie door ( they can't stand being ignored ). After several times of being firmly told no, then ignored and put out they have all been model citizens in the house. Outside there isn't a blade of grass or bush they haven't gotten however. LOL
I now have a 5 month male that has just gone thru the above training and lifts his leg but only OUTSIDE. Maybe I have been lucky but so far I have raised about 16 males ( Yorkies) in the house ( to at least 6 to 10 months ) and have yet to have any that peed inside more than twice.
I think most things that can become bad habits could or can be trained away. I have even retrained a 2 yr old male so they can be rehabilitated and not relocated.
