That being said, she IS going to pay for doing this. I predict she will pay a very hefty price for showing the world how stupid she is. Everyone on campus is going to know who she is and she will be shunned. Any potential employer is going to find the video, and it will be difficult to find a job after graduation. Hope she likes flipping burgers. Even though she has freedom of speech, there are consequences.
There are rebuttal videos out now. Here is one. He chooses humor as his weapon: YouTube - White girls in the library |
If UCLA chooses to punish her in any way, they have the right to do so. Whe a student accepts to attend any school in the UC system, they agree to abide by the UC code of conduct. If UCLA finds this girl violated the UC or UCLA's code of conduct, the girl is violating a contract. So what you're saying is it's ok to violate the university's rules, which is a contract we students enter with the university, that every student agrees to, as long as we (students) claim it's our first amendment right to do so? I'm just asking, because everyone seems to forget that little part. Every school has it's rules that students must follow. Upon review, if UCLA finds this video to be in direct violation of the student code of conduct, it will be up to them to figure it out. This girl can always appeal. If anything, I think this video will have the UC Regents review and alter the student's code of conduct to include problems that can and have come to be due to social networking on he Internet.
