People just have double standards. I understand why the stand is made in certain situations but ALL of us with tinys don't deserve to be be told that our dogs are less than because they are small IMHO
I've made comments before, in a nice way, that I wouldn't personally have a dog that small. I wouldn't actively seek out a dog under 8-10lbs probably. That's just because of my lifestyle. A dog any smaller than that would not suit me... *shrugs* I would never ever think a smaller dog was worth "less". I realize sometimes people aren't seeking a 3lb dog but may end up with one due to genetics or whatever. If I got a puppy thinking it was going to be 10lbs and it only turned out to 5lbs, I would never be like "oh return it!! Too small!!" or anything absurd like that. My issue with "teacups" is when people purposely are breeding for TINIER and TINIER dogs. And then you get people who see these adorable little things and want to carry them in their purse all day long... and never let them walk, or play like a regular dog, or go outside, or do natural dog things! THAT is what I find sad. I understand that just like I have a preference, some have a preference to have a smaller dog and that is totally fine. I have no issue with a smaller dog... Jackson's best friends are 4lb and 6lb yorkies and they are treated just as Jackson is and get to do all sorts of dog things. I just think the general public think that just because a dog is tiny they require no amount of exercise or are allowed to be a dog and I think that tiny dogs can be dangerous in the hands of people who don't know what they are doing -that's what scares ME about the tinies! Not everyone who gets them are as good Yorkie parents as us here on YT!

^ This. Everywhere I go, I encounter the 'THAT'S a Yorkie?!" type comments. I don't care, it doesn't bother me. I just say 'Oh, I prefer his size and wouldn't want a tiny one". That usually shuts the haters up but no honestly, most people that meet Jackson say they actually prefer his size too so luckily we don't run into alot of 'haters'. And honestly 16lbs is still a SMALL dog.
